Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) considers the privacy of our visitors to be extremely important. This privacy policy document describes in detail the types of personal information collected and recorded by www.akfc.ca and how it is used.

Collection of information
AKFC may ask for and collect from you personally identifiable information at various points throughout the site. Personal information is collected from donors who donate through our “Donate Now” page. We use this information to process your donation and to write to you an acknowledging receipt of your donation for tax purposes. It is important to us that the financial information you give when making an online donation remains secure. The financial information is used only for that particular transaction and is not stored.
AKFC does not sell, rent or trade personal information with others. We generally do not share your name, postal address or email address with any other organization. We may share your information with third parties in the following situations: a) to complete your request, b) to outsource one or more of the functions described above, c) to provide to third parties who may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect or receive information from our website and elsewhere on the internet and use that information to provide measurement services and target ads, or d) to share your information with the authorities in response to a legal order or official request, or when we believe you have acted in violation of our Terms of Use.

Donor information may be shared on a “need to know” basis with volunteers, and agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network involved with donor outreach and follow-up. These individuals and agencies shall maintain such personal information in confidence and use it only to deal with the purpose for which it has been provided. AKFC may use your personal information to contact you about an upcoming AKFC event, news item, or for online surveys. You may opt out of email communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link that is included at the bottom of every email communication from AKFC.
Log Files
Like many other websites, the AKFC websites make use of log files. These files log visitors to the site – usually a standard procedure for hosting companies and a part of hosting services’ analytics. The information inside the log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. This information is used to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement around the site, and gather demographic information. IP addresses and other such information are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.
