July 8, 2015 – The University of Central Asia (UCA) and Seneca College in Toronto are partnering to prepare students in Kyrgyz Republic for their first year of university.

UCA and Seneca College signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday, July 7 to develop the English, math and science curriculum for UCA’s first year Preparatory Programme, which will begin when UCA admits its first cohort of undergraduates at the Naryn campus next year.

Many Central Asian students go through 11 years of education before university, instead of 12 years like their international counterparts. The Preparatory Programme is designed to ensure that these students receive key research and study skills to succeed at university.

The partnership between UCA and Seneca College is undertaken with the financial support of AKFC and Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada, as part of the Partnership for Advancing Human Development in Africa and Asia.

UCA was founded in 2000 and, along with AKFC, is part of the worldwide Aga Khan Development Network.
