This is a unique opportunity to join a leader in global development as Regional Director of Programs and Partnerships for the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) in North America. Your expertise and experience in developing institutional partnerships and managing and implementing large programs will be valued by AKF colleagues and partners around the world who are committed to finding sustainable solutions to the complex problems causing global poverty.
A member of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), AKF is one of the world’s leading international development organizations. AKF seeks to promote pluralism, advance human development, and improve the quality of life for individuals in underserved communities. AKF has for over 50 years, worked in partnership with governments, foundations, development institutions, and others, using a long-term, community-based, locally-rooted and globally-informed approach and methodology to address major issues and benefit people of all faiths and backgrounds.
As Regional Director, North America (Programs and Partnerships), you report to AKF’s Global Director of Institutional Partnerships and AKF Canada’s CEO. You manage an international development and humanitarian program portfolio spanning 20 countries. You are accountable for the strategic oversight and leadership of AKF’s institutional partnerships (i.e. Global Affairs Canada, USAID, World Bank, UN system institutions, and private foundations, among others) in North America and in maintaining a large, diversified, and compliant grant and program portfolio. You also have scope to create innovative development partnerships with government agencies, multilateral institutions, foundations, and corporations in close collaboration with AKF and AKDN colleagues globally. Across AKF and AKDN, you are a peer, thought leader, and influencer who is expected to contribute to the intellectual and organizational leadership internationally. This means engaging and visiting with colleagues, staff, donors, and potential partners around the world and at the many implementation sites.
As the ideal candidate, you are known to inspire and lead teams to be engaged, mission driven, and passionate about having demonstrable impact. You bring to AKF discipline, creativity, and sophistication from significant experience in institutional partnership building, business development, donor relations, program management, operations, and cross organizational leadership. Your entrepreneurial skills, strategic foresight, executional savvy, political acuity, cross-cultural awareness will be valued, as will your systematic approach to building networks and developing working relationships to further strengthen AKF’s position and reputation in North America and around the world. As a leader, partner, and colleague, you are decisive, yet consensus oriented, with a consultative and humble approach to team and relationship building, which will align well with AKF’s collegial, professional, and highly supportive culture.
