SUMMARY:Building Mutual Economic Partnerships
DESCRIPTION:Join us to explore Canada’s role in a shifting global economy.\n\n\n\nThis event will be available in-person and online. Free to attend. \n\nThe global economic landscape has accelerated efforts by governments around the world to strengthen economic resilience\, diversify partnerships\, and secure access to strategic markets and supply chains. Countries are reassessing long-standing assumptions about development\, trade\, economic security\, and international cooperation\, as reflected in the G7 leaders’ declaration of June 20261. At the same time\, many emerging economies are calling for partnerships that extend beyond traditional aid relationships to include trade\, investment\, innovation\, skills\, and technology collaboration. \nIn Canada\, these shifts have prompted renewed discussion about the role of international assistance within a broader economic\, trade\, and foreign policy agenda. Recent speeches and policy directions have emphasized the importance of building mutual economic partnerships that deliver sustainable development outcomes while also supporting Canada’s long-term trade\, investment\, workforce\, and supply chain interests\, including the goal of doubling non-US exports within the next decade. \nThis public event\, co-hosted by Aga Khan Foundation Canada and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC)\, will consider Canada’s role in building partnerships that respond to global challenges while creating opportunities for both Canada and its international partners. It will uncover how mutual economic partnerships can contribute to shared prosperity\, while examining the opportunities\, challenges\, and trade-offs associated with this evolving agenda. \n\n\n\nRegister\nAdditional information for attendees: \n\nWhen you register\, please indicate your interest in attending in-person at the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat or attending online (Zoom) by selecting the relevant ticket option.\nNetworking/Refreshments: In-person attendees are encouraged to participate in an informal networking session and enjoy refreshments after the panels.\nPlease note that this event will offer English and French interpretation.\n\nQuestions? Contact akfc.events@akdn.org \n\n\n\nAbout the series \nShared Futures brings together leaders\, researchers\, policymakers\, and practitioners to examine the future of global cooperation and Canada’s role in an increasingly interconnected and rapidly changing world. This event marks the first public convening of the series. Learn more.  \n\n

SUMMARY:Entrepreneurship Across Borders
DESCRIPTION:Join us in exploring entrepreneurship as a catalyst for inclusive growth and mutual economic partnerships with Canada. \n\n\n\n\nThis event will be available in-person. Free to attend. \n———————————————————————————————– \nEntrepreneurs play a vital role in driving locally led solutions\, creating jobs\, and helping communities respond to economic and social challenges. \nYet many promising businesses continue to face constraints\, including limited access to financing\, mentorship\, professional networks\, markets\, technology\, and tailored business support. \nAccelerate Prosperity\, an initiative of the Aga Khan Development Network\, offers a practical example of how to overcome these barriers. A key focus of the discussion will be the role of local leadership\, inclusion\, and long-term development outcomes in supporting stronger\, more resilient economies. \n  \n\nRegister\n  \n\n\n\nWho Should Attend \nThis event is open to entrepreneurs\, founders\, accelerators\, incubators\, business associations\, impact investors\, foundations\, philanthropic organizations\, international development and economic inclusion practitioners\, academic institutions\, innovation hubs\, technology organizations\, research centres\, and anyone interested in this important topic. \nAdditional information for attendees: \n\nNetworking/Refreshments: Attendees are encouraged to enjoy refreshments after the panel discussion.\nLanguage: Please note that this event will be offered in English only.\n\nQuestions? Contact akfc.events@akdn.org
