Climate Change and Natural Disasters: Are we ready?

From massive wildfires to powerful hurricanes and heavy rainfalls, 2017 was a year of extreme weather and natural disasters around the globe. Billions of dollars and thousands of lives were lost. And with climate change continuing, the incidence and severity of these kinds of natural disasters are set to increase in the years ahead.
Are Canadians ready to face these challenges, as individuals and as a nation? What lessons can we learn from other countries, and what can we be doing to help the international response?
On Monday, November 27, 2017 Aga Khan Foundation Canada and thePanel welcomed over 150 people to the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat for Climate change and natural disasters: Are we ready? A panel of four global experts explored the natural disaster risks we face based on new climate and weather trends, how we should be preparing, and what role Canada should play abroad.
