Through the Lens of a Freelancer: Documentary Photographer Valerian Mazataud presents his vision for international reporting

mars 25, 2015 - mars 31, 2015

March 25 & 31, 2015 – Award-winning documentary photographer Valerian Mazataud has reported on major events around the world – from Syrian refugee camps in Northern Jordan, to post-earthquake Haiti, the frontlines of the Quebec student protests, and remote mining communities in the Andes. By covering these stories as a freelancer, he has defied the mainstream appetite for sensational stories and has leveraged deeper stories and unusual angles.

Participants learned about his experiences reporting on important development issues. He offered practical advice for establishing a career as an international freelance journalist.

This event was co-presented by Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) and partner journalism schools.

The presentation included an audience Q&A.

Event details:
This event has taken place at l’Université de Moncton and l’Université Laval.
