Youth Advisory Committee

The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) spearheads AKFC’s national youth engagement strategies and ensures that youth perspectives are integrated throughout AKFC’s programs to engage Canadians.

We all have a stake in the future, but no one more than today’s youth. AKFC undertakes a range of initiatives to engage and inform Canadians from coast to coast to coast on critical global issues. Our programming tailored to young people in Canada empowers them to integrate a global mindset into their future endeavours; while harnessing the perspectives and skills they offer the world today.

The YAC works closely with AKFC to guide and inform its programming to reach youth and amplify their perspectives among Canadian audiences. The YAC comprises a diverse group of young leaders from across Canada who are passionate about global development, youth engagement, and creating positive change in their communities.

How the YAC works:

The YAC focuses on its members’ diverse skill sets and interests. As a group, members work together across projects, focusing on three pillars of work: content creation, outreach and engagement, and research and evaluation. In addition, members can choose to be a part of up to two subcommittees, on topics such as communications, research, or priority initiatives.

Members serve for a one-year term, with a time commitment of up to 4 hours per month.

AKFC covers all expenses related to the Youth Advisory Committee to ensure this program is as accessible as possible for all young people in Canada.
