Harnessing Development Data: Workshop with Canadian civil society and other stakeholders

March 31, 2015

GOAL
The goal of this workshop was to determine where and how Canadian stakeholders, in particular representatives from Canadian civil society organizations (CSOs), were working with international development data, and where they would like to go.

WHY?
With increasing publication of open aid data in Canada and beyond there is both a greater need and opportunity to further leverage this information base to understand and analyze aid flows, strengthen policy, track and measure results, communicate impact and a host of other potential use-cases.

KEY QUESTIONS:
What do Canadian CSOs want to be able to do with development data that they cannot do right now?
What do Canadian CSOs and other stakeholders think would be useful to them, but that someone else (e.g. NPSIA, CCIC) should do in the development data space?
What are some of the key areas, related to leveraging development data, that Canadian CSOs and other stakeholders would like to collectively work on with the organizers over the next year?
