Meet our speakers:

Faaria Meghji

Faaria Meghji holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University. She worked in corporate financial planning for two years before embarking on her journey to India and Bangladesh through Aga Khan Foundation Canada’s International Youth Fellowship Program. In South Asia, Faaria worked at CARE with marginalized rural communities in the areas of microenterprise development, agriculture and climate change, food security, and women empowerment. She surveyed and interviewed beneficiaries, wrote assessment reports, created business and project plans, produced donor outreach material, and analyzed qualitative and quantitative data. Faaria’s most notable accomplishment was coordinating the development of a successful project proposal to the Swiss Government for 9 million Swiss Francs. Faaria is currently working in corporate financial planning in Toronto but will be pursuing a Masters in Social Work next year, as the fellowship further motivated her to devote her life to social causes.

Nabeel Ahmed

Nabeel is Network Coordinator for Social Enterprise Toronto, a member-led network of nonprofit social enterprises in the Greater Toronto Area that create employment and training opportunities for marginalized individuals.
As an International Microfinance and Microenterprise Fellow in 2013, Nabeel worked as a Financial Analyst at the University of Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. He has remained active in international development through his work with the Association for the Development of Pakistan and Pakathon.
Nabeel has a Bachelor’s degree from the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi, Pakistan, and a Certificate in Public Administration and Leadership from Ryerson University, Toronto. He enjoys cricket, culture (especially from the South Asian subcontinent) and good arguments.
