April 12, 2016 - In the age of the Silk Road, Central Asia and Afghanistan came to prominence by facilitating global trade between China and the Mediterranean. Today, the fortunes of the region are still tied to global trends, but these are taking an increasingly negative turn. 

April 13 & 14, 2016 - Across the world, universities play an integral role in the social, economic, political and cultural life of countries. They foster future leaders and professionals. Universities are drivers of social and economic development, repositories of cultural heritage, research centres for expanding human knowledge, and innovation hubs. They are institutions that enable countries to participate in global conversations on the most pressing issues facing our world. 

April 28, 2016 - Participants joined Aga Khan Foundation Canada and the British Columbia Council for International Cooperation on Thursday, April 28 for the launch of the 2016 tour of Together: An exhibition on global development.

May 10, 2016 - “Scaling-Up” is one of the biggest challenges in development. Interventions that work well with small populations routinely face challenges in expanding to a larger number of communities. This is particularly true of interventions that have unpredictable trajectories of change such as participatory and community-based interventions. Such projects hinge upon their adaptive capacity —the ability to be nimble, to learn by doing, and to make mid-course corrections in management and design—in order to be effective.

June 9, 2016 - In the summer of 2016, 12 accomplished young Canadians took flight around the globe. They spent eight months putting their energy and skills to use in the developing world, working in fields from microfinance to education to journalism. But before the 2016 International Youth Fellows embarked on their adventures, AKFC was pleased to invite the public to discover the milestones which have marked new chapters in the careers of our past and current fellows.

September and October 2016 – Aga Khan Foundation Canada invited participants to join a conversation about Canada’s role in reducing global poverty. This participatory workshop explored effective solutions to some of the most pressing challenges communities are facing at home and globally. Participants left the workshop with ideas on how they can take action as global citizens.

September 14, 2016 - Participants joined Aga Khan Foundation Canada and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights on Wednesday, September 14 to hear from notable global citizens and explore Together: An exhibition on global development. They were inspired by the stories of global citizens who are working to make a difference in their own communities and around the world.
