November 8, 2016– Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro had long been a dream of Girish Agrawal. “I always wanted to climb Kilimanjaro, but I never got to it,” said the Calgary-area businessman. When he started to plan to make that dream a reality, a new dream emerged. If he was going to make all this effort to reach the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, he decided to expand his goal, by raising funds for an important cause. “I realized I’m going to take this big risk because I have not done any of these kinds of things in my life,” said Girish, adding that he wanted to bring “a little bit more value” to his considerable efforts.

November 7, 2016– Together: An exhibition on global development has finished the second leg of its cross-Canada tour, visiting 25 communities in western and central Canada.

Since April 2015, Aga Khan Foundation Canada has welcomed 40,000 visitors to the Together exhibition, an innovative, interactive exhibition on how Canadians are working together to alleviate global poverty.

In Mozambique, where 2 out of 5 children are malnourished, Canadian support has helped train communities to harvest essential crops and prepare nutritious meals.

To the uninitiated, the landscape can seem wild, barren, even hostile. As part of Canada’s 150th celebrations, Together: An exhibition on global development will be travelling across the country, sparking discussions on how Canadians are driving a more peaceful, prosperous, and pluralist world.

October 11, 2016 – On September 21, 2016, His Highness the Aga Khan was honoured as the first recipient of the Adrienne Clarkson Prize for Global Citizenship, for his lifetime commitment to ideals of belonging and inclusion.

September 13, 2016- Together: An exhibition on global development has welcomed over 20,000 visitors since it launched in April this year, traveling across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. This fall, the exhibition travels to Manitoba and Ontario, exploring how Canadians are working together to alleviate global poverty. Interactive workshops will be delivered at several university stops, including University of Winnipeg and Seneca College. New venues are being added to the schedule regularly.
